YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING
You may know CPR and the Heimlich maneuver but can you administer first aid in a mental health crisis? It’s easy to tell when someone is having a heart attack, is choking or can’t breathe. What do depression or anxiety look like? What would you say to a person you know who says they are thinking about suicide? How can you help in a panic attack?
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, coaches, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.
CCYS, in partnership with CC Adult & Community Education and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is pleased to offer this training and materials FREE after payment of a $10 processing fee. Training is limited to 30 participants.
